Traffic Planner Utility
This utility program is used to create definitions which are actually used in the operations program. It creates switching orders using freight forwarding protocol.
In the main program you create orders by saying for an industry to "order an empty box car and ship it to..." Traffic Planner lets you be more organized and adds an element of realism.
In Traffic Planner you first define the products that your railroad will handle: coal, torpedoes, steel plates, diesel fuel.....
Then you define what kind of car is used to ship each product.
Then you select which of your industries will ship each of those products, and who they will ship it to. It's that simple.
Those definitions then actually create the individual shipment orders
for you in the main program.
The review features allow you to look at things like:
Which industries ship coal, torpedoes, etc?
What products is this industry shipping and receiving?
and on a broader, more improtant scale,
What role does this industry play in the operation of my railroad?
