History of the RMS Program
The owner of Sonora Software is Bill Heffner: a model railroader since age ten and a computer programmer since 1977. In 1981 he designed a program to generate train orders for his model railroad, which has matured into the RMS (Railroad Management System), RCD (Railroad Club Dispatcher) and related utility programs.
The RMS Version 1.00 was introduced in 1984. It currently is available for DOS in Version 4.33. The Windows 3.1 version was introduced in 1997; the Windows 95 version was released in 2001.
The RCD Version 1.00 was introduced in 1990, and is currently available for DOS in Version 2.08. It is in development for Windows, scheduled for 2002 release.
The current programs are the result of many years of model railroaders using the programs and providing feedback about what they would like to see the programs do.
